Giving as Worship

Here at Liberty we consider our giving an act of worship. God has given us all that we have, and he as the owner of all things entrusts what he has given us to manage it well for his kingdom. In our joyful giving we declare with open hands that we serve God not the idols of materialism, wealth, and greed.

It is only the grace of God that we can give joyfully in worship, and it is the grace of God that compels us to give.

“The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has made up his mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all contentment in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.” (2 Corinthians 9:6-8)

May the Lord find us giving joyfully and faithfully for his glory and the furtherance of his kingdom.

“Giving is a function of grace. If we have experienced God’s grace, and walk in obedience to His Spirit, gracious generosity will be a result. Giving is also a function of discipline. For most of us, we have to plan to give, if we don’t it ends up at the bottom of our “to do” list and we don’t give (or have left) what grace compels us to give.” – Brett Gilchrist
